Homework and Quizzes
Quizzes: Quizzes will count
for 50 of the 100 points for homework and quizzes. There will be a short
quiz most weeks, announced in advance, and given in lecture or discussion.
No makeup quizzes; several lowest quiz scores will be
dropped to compensate for missed quizzes.
Homework: Homework will count for 50 of
the 100 points for homework and quzzes. Homework will be collected at the
beginning of lecture and returned in the discussion class. Homework due on a particular date is
that listed under the date of the previous lecture. No
late homework accepted; several lowest homework scores will be
dropped to compensate for low grades and/or missed assignements.
Print your name, your discussion class hour, and the
due-date clearly at the top of each page of your homework
papers. You are encouraged to discuss homework problems with other students.
Remember, however, that copying work to be submitted for grade,
or allowing your work to be submitted for grade to be copied, is considered
academic dishonesty.
Cell Phones
If you bring a cell phone to class, please be certain that it is turned
off. As you know very well, cell phones can be very disruptive.
