We will be using the book by G. Folland "Real Analysis. Modern
Techniques anf their applications", Second edition. Other additional
texts will be
given in class.
Main course topics:
- Sigma-algebras and the general measure theory.
- Introduction of the Lebesgue integral via the Lebesgue scheme
(the Daniel scheme will not be considered in this course). Basic
convergense theorems.
- Radon-Nikodym theorem and signed measures, functions of bounded
variation.
- Elements of geometry of Banach and Hilbert spaces.
- L^p-spaces, Riesz Representation Theorem, interpolation.
Testing system:
Homework will be given every other
week. One midterm exam will be administered after we introduce the
Lebesgue integral. The exact date will be announced later.
A final exam will be given on the
date scheduled by the university.
