Here are the application instructions for the Math Trailblazers District Leadership Seminar, March 6-8, 2006.

 

This working seminar is designed for teams of at least two classroom teachers and one district administrator.  The participation of a district administrator is essential to the development and implementation of a practical plan for the district.  Teams should be representative of the grade levels served and should include teachers who have used Math Trailblazers in their classrooms for at least one year.  All teachers and administrators who attend must have designated roles in the implementation process for the next few years. (NOTE:  Illinois teachers who have included this professional development activity as part of their 2005-06 certificate renewal plan may earn up to 18 CPDU contact hours.)

Please choose a team leader to facilitate the completion of the application. The team leader need not attend the seminar.  All communication regarding the seminar will be directed to the team leaders.  Only the team leaders will be notified of the team's acceptance.

The Seminar will be held at the Tutorium In Intensive English conference rooms on the campus of the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). The UIC campus is close to downtown Chicago and is easily accessible by car, commuter train and other public transportation. The seminar schedule is as follows: Monday and Tuesday, 8:00 am-4:30 pm; Wednesday, 8:00 am-2:00 pm.  Because of the importance of attending all sessions of this seminar, please allow sufficient time in your travel arrangements for ground transportation to the airport or other destinations after completing the Wednesday workshop.

 

For our out-of-town guests, travel and accommodations are the responsibility of each district.  Although lodging is your choice, we have secured rooms at three nearby hotels for the benefit of our participants.  To get the preferred rate, you must mention "Math Trailblazers District Leadership Seminar" when you make reservations.  All rooms are based on availability.  Please contact the hotel directly to make your reservation and to arrange for payment.

The Math Trailblazers District Leadership Seminar is directed by the Teaching Integrated Mathematics and Science (TIMS) Project (e-mail TIMS@uic.edu) authors of Math Trailblazers.  We have been working with district implementations since Math Trailblazers was published almost 10 years ago. We welcome your  application. We are looking forward to a terrific seminar and working with a great new group of leaders.
