A Masters Degree program in Mathematical and Information Sciences for Industry (MISI) is offered by the Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). The MISI program offers an integrated, interdisciplinary curriculum combining both discrete and applied mathematics with computer science, project management, and communication skills. The MISI program will balance a core curriculum with group projects focused on industrial problems with practical deliverables. The program places special emphasis on applications in science, engineering, health care, and business and is designed to be a 1 and 1/2-year program for full time students.
For detailed information see the program's own webpage at http://www.math.uic.edu/misi/
This program is offered by the Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science. The Computational Finance Track is a joint effort with selected members of the Department of Finance at UIC.
The program was finally approved by the Illinois Board of Higher Education during the Spring Semester 2000 and MISI offically began Fall Semester 2000. The MISI industrial mathematics workshop core course had been run on an experimental basis for 3-4 years.
The program prepares students for programmer work and industrial problem solving.
Available concentration Tracks are Data Mining & Data Intensive Computing, High Performance Scientific Computing , Computational Finance, Mathematical Control, Information, & Optimization, Statistical Sciences and Symbolic, Numeric, & Computational Mathematics
