Mathematical Sciences

The goal of our master's program is to give students advanced training in modern, applied mathematics.

  The department maintains close ties with other departments at Johns Hopkins University, as well as the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions and Applied Physics Laboratory

  The Mathematical Sciences department was formed from earlier departments of statistics, operations research, and industrial engineering.

  Students enter with bachelors degrees in any field of natural science, social science, or engineering, and pursue careers in statistics, operations research, or applied mathematics in industry and government.

  The department concentrates on probability and statistics, operations research and optimization, discrete mathematics, and applied mathematics. This is the only masters Program offered by the department. (There is a separate pure mathematics department at the university.)

  Partial tuiton waivers are available for master's students.
