The academic backgrounds of students vary - economics, statistics, finance, and computer science, in addition to mathematics. Some students are returning to school after work experience in these fields. Students seek employment in the financial aspects of the actuarial field with insurance companies, consulting firms, or governmental agencies.
Financial Mathematics is advised by a Steering Committee with faculty from the 5 departments: Economics, finance, mathematics (chairing), Risk Management, Statistics.
