Twelfth Annual Symposium Series
Spring 2010

 
A forum for faculty and graduate students in education, mathematics, and science devoted to improving teaching and learning of mathematics and science. These inter-disciplinary forums bring together people from universities, 4-year colleges and 2-year colleges.

In the past 10 years, more than 700 faculty and graduate students representing over 150 institutions have participated in the symposia.  Past symposia have been hosted by the Adler Planetarium, Chicago State University, DePaul University, Illinois Institute of Technology, Loyola University Chicago, Northeastern Illinois University, Northwestern University, The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, Roosevelt University, Rush Medical College, Saint Xavier University, the University of Illinois at Chicago, and William Rainey Harper College.

The 2010 symposia are partially supported by the The Illinois Board of Higher Education, The Illinois State Board of Education, University of Illinois at Chicago, Northwestern University, and DePaul University.

The symposia feature:
* Keynote talks by national leaders in education, mathematics, and science, and breakout sessions with the speakers
* Breakout sessions highlighting exemplary practices, innovative projects, and research by Chicago area faculty
* Discussion groups on issues of teaching and learning mathematics and science, and the preparation of teachers
* Networking within and across disciplines.

The 2010 symposium series is co-sponsored by Chicago Public Schools, Chicago State University, DePaul University, Harold Washington College, Harper College, Illinois Institute of Technology, Loyola University Chicago, National Louis University, Northeastern Illinois University, Northwestern University, Roosevelt University, Rush Medical College, Saint Xavier University, and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
