It is a very good idea to have your computer time and the department server time synchronized.
You can do it using various programs. We recommend About Time program. Here are the instructions for the installation.

1. Click on the following link to download About Time program. Save the program ( for example in C:\temp directory).
2. Double-click on the file abouttime_nomsie.exe. Follow all instructions and accept all defaults.
3. In the program choose the following options:

In Time Hosts: delete all the hosts, click Add , type Math as a Site name, time.math.uic.edu in Host name/address field, choose Time/TCP as a Protocol, click Verify Entry. 131.193.179.162 should appear as the Resolved address. Click OK

In Time Servers: disable all time servers (uncheck Enable boxes)

In Options: choose Set time when starting, Start hidden,  Put icon on system tray, click Apply

In Control/Time Client: click on Set Time, click on  Hide

4. To make the program start on the start of your computer go to Start->Settings->Taskbar and Start Menu->Start Menu programs.

     In Start Menu programs: click Add, browse for the Start Time program (If you choose all defaults during installation it should be in C:\Program Files\About Time), choose AboutTime.exe, click Open.

Click Next, select Startup as a folder to place shortcut in.
