COURSE DESCRIPTION
Logarithms, radicals, graphing of rational functions, complex numbers, trigonometry, DeMoivre's formula, theory of equations, sequences, systems of linear equations.
PREREQUISITES
MATH 090 or MATH 092 or appropriate performance on the UIC mathematics placement test.
FRESHMEN STUDENTS ONLY
We are conducting a study of the new ALEKS placement test and we want to know the opinions of the incoming freshmen who took the test.

We would like the survey to be done preferably before you take the final exam.
TEXTBOOK
Precalculus by Michael Sullivan, 9th edition, Pearson/Prentice Hall
Students are required to purchase a license for MyMathLab software, which includes an electronic version of the textbook. The software license is bundled with the textbook and student solutions manual if purchased new from the campus bookstore, but it is also available separately for those who choose to purchase a used textbook or to use only the electronic version of the textbook.
You can register for your MML course at http://www.mymathlab.com. You must first get your CourseID from your instructor. You can pay online or use a Student Access Kit that you purchased in the campus bookstore.
You are not required to buy a printed copy of the textbook.
CALCULATOR
Prerequisite: A scientific or graphing calculator is required. The models TI-83 and TI-84 are recommended but other calculators are acceptable.
GRADING
The course grade will be distributed as follows:

| Three hour exams | 100 points each |
| Final exam | 200 points |
| Total | 680 points |
The grading scale is:

MAKEUP POLICY
Students are expected to be present for all exams. Each instructor will establish their own Makup Policy. The Makeup Policy can only be applied for exams in case of a verifiable emergency or a formal request by the UIC atheletic department. Do not schedule travel on an exam date.
STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES
Students with disabilities who require special accommodations for access and participation in this course must be registered with the Office of Disability Services (ODS). Students who need exam accommodations must contact ODS in the first week of the term to arrange a meeting with a Disability Specialist.
