Faculty Positions

The Department has active research programs in a broad spectrum of centrally important areas of pure mathematics, computational and applied mathematics, combinatorics, mathematical computer science and scientific computing, probability and statistics, and mathematics education.


Assistant / Associate / Full Professor

Research Assistant Professor

Research Assistant Professorship. This is a non-tenure track position, normally renewable annually to a maximum of three years. This position carries a teaching responsibility of two courses per year, and the expectation that the incumbent play a significant role in the research life of the Department. Applicants must show evidence of outstanding research potential in mathematics, computer science, statistics, mathematics education or related field, and should expect to have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree by the start date.

Clinical Assistant Professor

The Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Chicago invites applications for one full-time, non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor position. This position is effective August 16, 2016. Final authorization of the position is subject to the availability of state funding.

The main duties for this position will be teaching and oversight of the Mathematical Sciences Learning Center that provides tutoring for all levels of mathematical science courses. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in the Mathematical Sciences, Mathematics Education, or a closely related field. These duties may change in the future upon the expected integration of the Math and Science Learning Centers.

Responsibilities include teaching and tutoring; training, scheduling, and supervising learning center staff; developing learning center programs; maintaining budget oversight; and close coordination with other campus, college and departmental student support programs.

Applicants must demonstrate exceptional competence in teaching and excellent organizational and leadership skills. Lecturer

The Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science at UIC expects openings at full and/or part-time lecturer positions available Fall 2016. Each position is responsible for teaching general mathematics, computer programming and / or statistics courses, advising and assisting students, and supervising teaching assistants, as needed. Qualifications include experience teaching mathematics, computer programming and / or statistics at the University or College level, and a Master’s Degree in mathematics or a related discipline. Applicants should be qualified to teach a range of undergraduate courses in math, statistics, and computer science. These appointments would be for a single semester or entire academic year, ranging from 33% to 100%; they are not tenure-track appointments. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
