Financial Awards
MSCS and the Graduate College offer a variety of financial awards to qualified students on a competitive basis.
To be given full consideration, the Application for Graduate Appointment
form must be submitted along with other required application materials by the deadlines posted below for the graduate admission application.
International students are encouraged to apply for FALL TERM ONLY due to the time required to issue I-20s and the availability of funds.
- January 1 for Fall semester admission (domestic and international)
- October 1 for Spring semester (domestic applicants only)
- March 15 for Summer semester (domestic applicants only)
Teaching Assistantships
Teaching Assistantships are awarded by the MSCS department at the time that admission decisions are made. Duties include teaching, grading, and holding office hours for 2-3 sections of an undergraduate mathematics course.
Teaching assistants earn a stipend plus an Assistantship Tuition and Service Fee Waiver and must enroll for at least 12 semester hours each term. Students may be supported for up to two years in the Master's program, though 3 semesters is more common. Continued support is contingent on satisfactory academic progress and performance of assistantship duties.
Tuition and Service Fee Waivers
Each semester MSCS is given a limited number of Board of Trustees Tuition and Service Fee Waivers. These awards are made based on academic merit and are independent of financial need. Students granted this type of waiver must enroll for at least 12 semester hours each term of their award (6 hours for a summer term award).
Other Fellowships and Scholarships
A variety of fellowships and scholarships are available from the Graduate College through a nomination process. A list of these awards are posted on the Graduate College website.
