Mathematics Requirements
NOTE: There are important changes to the Mathematics Major that go into effect starting in the Fall Semester 2005.
- Math 414 is no longer a graduation requirement but remains an elective.
- Required course Math 413 is renamed Math 313.
- Collateral course requirements are dropped.
- Revised elective courses have been organized in suggested options to help prepare for the job market or graduate school. The options are: Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Computational and Industrial Mathematics, and Probability and Statistics.
Each Math major will be able to decide whether to graduate using the old requirements or under the new requirements. If you would like to switch to the new one, you must see a Department Advisor and declare this option. Changes will go into effect during the Fall Semester 2005.
It is important to understand that once a change is made, it cannot be reversed. Full details are available at the Undergraduate Studies Offices on the 3rd floor SEO or at advising during the Spring Semester.
