Course Objectives
This course introduces students to linear algebra.
The topics of the course are: matrices, Gaussian elimination, vector spaces, linear transformations,
orthogonality, Gram-Schmidt process, determinants, inner products, eigenvalue problems, and
applications to differential equations. The department expects students to be able to give definitions, prove theorems presented in class, and solve both computational problems and problems involving students' own proofs.
Prerequisite
Concurrent registration in MATH 215 (Introduction to Advanced Mathematics).

Grading
The grade will be
given on the basis of quizzes (20%) given in class without prior announcement, two written tests during the semester (20% per each), and written final exam (40%).
