Extras
Here is a cool, free program for visualizing mathematical objects in three dimensional space. It's Mac only. I suggest browsing the gallery, even if you don't download the program, to see some beautiful examples.
This animation illustrates the set of orthogonal vectors, T, N and B, that we defined for space curves.
Grading
This is the official syllabus. Below are my interpretations of the syllabus and policies.
2 midterms, 100 points each.
Final exam, 200 points
Quizzes, 80 points
Homework, 20 points
Computer Lab, 50 points
Quizzes will be every Friday except for weeks in which we have an exam. The two lowest scores for each student will be thrown out. There will be no make-up quizzes under any circumstance unless you have notified me with a valid excuse before the beginning of the class during which the quiz will take place.
Homework will be collected every Wednesday. The assignment due on Wednesday consists of the problems assigned on the homework syllabus for the previous week's Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Late homework will not be accepted under any circumstance unless you have notified me with a valid excuse before the beginning of the class during which the homework is due.
