Homework: Homework will be assigned each day in class. Homework will also be posted on the course web page. You are required to do all homework problems, although none will be collected. You are encouraged to work together on homework, although you are still responsible for knowing how to do each problem assigned.
Problem Days: Each Friday on which there is not an exam or a holiday will be a problem day. Students will be asked to come to the board to present their work on homework problems. Students who are not presenting will be expected to critique those that are.
Exams: There will be two exams, in class, in addition to the final. The exam dates are Friday, September 21st, and Friday, October 26th.
Attendance: Although no official role will be taken, you will need to be in lecture to follow the class, since we will be jumping around in the text and covering some topics that are not in the text at all.
Grades: Your HOMEWORK grade will be based
on your performance during problem days, both presenting and critiqueing.
Your grades on EXAM1, EXAM2 and the FINAL will be curved. Your
class grade will then be computed with the following weights: 20% HMWK,
20% EXAM1, 20% EXAM2, 40% FINAL.
