In this project you are asked to write a letter of application for a job. You are responding to the following notice in the paper:

Internships Available

Maths Consultants Inc. is recruiting talented graduates in the mathematical sciences for an internship program. Special consideration will be given to students majoring in mathematics, computer science, statistics. or mathematics education. Mathematics Consultants Inc. is contracted by the government and business to do the mathematical analysis of various projects.

Applicants should send a letter not exceeding two pages that includes a brief description of their background in the mathematical sciences. It should describe some of the professional and technical skills they have acquired in their university studies. Technical details of an applicant’s accomplishments may be included in the letter. Letters should be received by Wednesday, November 5, 2003.

Write your letter as you would a letter of application. Your response to this advertisement should be two pages long. The first page should be the actual letter of application, stating what job you are applying for, and describing your qualifications for the job. It may include more technical details than a real letter would contain; for example, it may briefly describe a project you did in a particular course. The second page should consist of a brief curriculum vitae, listing your educational background and your job experience.
