Emerging Scholars (formerly Professional Development Program) is now in its seventh year at UIC. Four calculus workshops are supervised by Professors Masur and Foulser; two precalculus workshops are supervised by Professors Baldwin and Tartakoff. The program is modeled on Dr. Uri Treisman’s program at Berkeley and has had striking impact on the performance and retention of calculus and precalculus students. Students spend four additional hours per week working in groups on conceptually more difficult problems.
