Outreach & Training

The UIC AMP is dedicated to changing the culture of the research university by introducing faculty and future faculty to principles of cooperative learning and increasing interaction among faculty and minority undergraduates.

The faculty at UIC involved with AMP offer various training sessions for the AMP consortium as well as other interested programs and individuals. Profs. Baldwin and Masur and Ms. Jamaica hold annual training sessions for the T.A.s and AMP Scholars who will be involved in the programs. Professor Radford, MSCS, offered in Fall 1995 a course on teaching which is mandatory for new T.A.’s. This course grew from earlier efforts by Professors Tartakoff, Dees, and Baldwin. In the summer of 1995 Beatriz Jamaica and Karen Matthews ran a training session for the TRIO Program’s Summer Bridge T.A.s.
