  All students are required to take a minimum of 6 credit hours outside of the department. Beyond this, other departments are not formally involved.

  This program has been around since the early 1980's. For a long time the focus was on preparing students for PhD programs in Operations Research or statistics, but in recent years the emphasis has shifted to preparing students for careers in industry.
