Theory of distributions; fundamental solutions of the heat equation, wave equation, and Laplace equation. Harmonic functions. Cauchy problem for the wave equation. Prerequisite: Grade C or better in Math 417. Textbook by R. McOwen "Partial Differential Equations. Methods and Applications".
Homework assignments -- given every other week and are due Friday the following week. Exercises will be graded selectively. One 1 hour exam - 100pts, final is 150pts, homework - 100pts. Total is 350pts.
