Prerequisites: Grade of C or better in Math 220 - understanding of ordinary differential equations.

Text: R. Haberman, Elementary Appled Partial Differential Equations, 4th ed., 2004.

The course is an introduction to partial differential equations. The topics include:

1. Heat equation, Wave equation and Laplace's equation in both one and higher dimensions.
2. Separation of Variables, boundry value problems, Fourier Series.
3. Sturm-Liouville eigenvalue problems, eigenfunction expansions.
4. Green's function methods.
5. Fourier and Laplace Transform techniques.
6. Applications.

• homework will be reviewed
• 2 - one hour exams (60%)
• final exam (40%)
