Are you interested in becoming an AMP Scholar?

AMP Scholars are selected based on their interpersonal skills, academic performance, and desire to help others. Students selected for undergraduate research spend 8-10 hours per week on a research project under the supervision of a faculty member. Students have the opportunity to present their findings at the University of Illinois Undergraduate Symposium, the African American and Latino Research Forum, or the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation Research Symposium.

AMP scholars who are selected to assist with the workshops are motivated students who have enrolled and excelled in at least two semesters of math or physics workshops. They meet weekly with trained teacher assistants to discuss course material and serve as peer facilitators in the workshops.

Students selected to conduct research or to facilitate the workshops are awarded a $1500 stipend per semester of participation. AMP Scholars are traditionally students fro underrepresented groups (African American, Native American, Latino) recruited from students within the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). However, other related majors may be considered.
