MSCS and the Graduate College offer a variety of financial awards to qualified students on a competitive basis.
To be given full consideration, the Application for Graduate Appointment form must be submitted along with other required application materials by the deadlines posted below for the graduate admission application. International students are encouraged to apply for FALL TERM ONLY due to the time required to issue I-20s and the availability of funds.
- December 15 for Fall semester admission (domestic and international)
- October 1 for Spring semester (domestic applicants only)
- March 15 for Summer semester (domestic applicants only)
Teaching Assistantships are awarded on a limited and competitive basis by the MSCS department at the time that admission decisions are made. Duties include teaching and grading for 2-3 sections of an undergraduate mathematics course, and assisting students in the Mathematics Learning Center 2 hours per week.
Teaching Assistants (TA) earn a stipend plus an Assistantship Tuition and Service Fee Waiver. The typical TA enrolls for at least 12 semester hours each term. Students must remain in good standing to continue in MSCS toward degree completion and to be considered for funding. Refer to the Graduate Student Handbook for specific guidelines.
Tuition and Service Fee Waivers
Each semester MSCS is awarded a limited number of Graduate College Tuition Waivers. Students are selected based on academic merit, independent of financial need. Students granted this type of waiver must enroll for at least 12 semester hours each term of their award (6 hours for a summer term award).
Other Fellowships and Scholarships
A variety of fellowships and scholarships are available from the Graduate College through a nomination process. A list of these awards are posted on the Graduate College website.
