Hopf Algebras and Link Invariants
Abstract: This talk is an introduction to the relationships between Hopf algebras and topological invariants of knots and links. The talk continues from last week and will be devoted to showing how some solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation arise from relatively simple representations of the Temperley-Lieb algebra, and how these same representations can be used to motivate the definition of the sl(2)_{q} quantum group (Hopf algebra).
