Gift Wrapping for Tropisms
Abstract: Tropisms are leading powers of Puiseux series expansions.
They belong to the intersection of inner normal fans of
Newton polytopes. One geometric method to compute tropisms
is to adapt the gift wrapping algorithm for convex hulls.
This algorithm follows the geometry of the tropical prevariety,
for example: pretropical facets correspond to the highest
dimensional surfaces, while tropisms for algebraic curves
are among the pretropical edges.
