The cone of syzygies
Abstract: For an overdetermined system of polynomial equations, it has long been known that the relations (or syzygies) among the polynomials provide powerful insights into the properties and invariants of the corresponding projective varieties. I will describe a duality between syzygies and vector bundles, and explain how this duality imposes structural constraints on matrices of polynomials.
