Optimal Designs For Factorial Experiments and Polynomial Equations
Abstract: This talk will give an introduction on locally optimal design for two level factorial experiments with binary response. Basically, we are trying to find optimal experimental designs with respect to some statistical criterion. In many cases, we end up with optimizing a polynomial function or a ratio of polynomial functions. It is important in statistics to find explicit solutions and to study the properties of the solutions. Many open questions may require more powerful mathematical tools. Hopefully algebraic statistics can play an active role in it.
