tropical curves and amoebas
Abstract: We continue following the introduction to tropical geometry of Diane Maclagan and Bernd Sturmfels.
We will look at plane tropical curves and their intersection.
Applying a logarithm map to an algebraic set leads to a so-called amoeba
and there are three ways in which tropical varieties arise from amoebas.
