Tropical Implicitization
Abstract: In computer algebra, implicitization is the problem of passing from a rational map that has as image the solution set of a polynomial system to the prime ideal of all polynomials that vanish on the image of the given rational map. Tropical implicitization asks to compute the Newton polytopes of the implicit equations. In this seminar we consider the case of a plane algebraic curve, following section 1.5 of the forthcoming book on introduction to tropical geometry of Diane Maclagan and Bernd Sturmfels.
